Dr. Dean Ta, Professor of Department of Electronic Engineering at Fudan University, has recently received a National Major Research and Development Projects of Scientific Instruments from the NSFC (7.25 million yuan, $ 1 million, approximately) to develop a ultrasound bone imaging method and device. This project involves Fudan University, Tongji University and Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Through 5 years study, ultrasound and photoacoustic modalities will be combined in the new bone experimental device, which will help researchers understand the relationship of different skeletal diseases, bone microstructure and function.
